Partial denture treatment requires a prescription from a dentist
Clinical Dental Technicians can provide complete dentures directly to patients who have no natural teeth or implants.
Where a patient still has natural teeth or implants, an appropriate dental referral and prescription is required before we can provide their new denture treatment directly.
For patients requiring new partial dentures, we therefore require an original denture referral or prescription from a General Dental Practitioner following an appropriate oral health assessment.
This ensures that the patient's current oral health has been assessed and provides our Clinical Dental Technician with the prescription and relevant clinical information required to provide their removable prosthesis.
Referring a partial denture patient
Before referring your patient, please complete their oral health assessment and provide an appropriate denture prescription.
The referral should include relevant oral health findings, the teeth to be replaced and any clinical instructions or considerations relevant to the patient's treatment.
A straightforward denture referral pathway
Refer patients directly to The Denture Shop following their oral health assessment. Our team can then provide the prescribed denture treatment while maintaining communication with the referring practice.
Full Dentures
Referral for new or replacement complete upper and lower dentures.
Partial Dentures
Acrylic, chrome and other partial denture options following examination and prescription by the patient's dentist.
Problem Dentures
Patients experiencing repeated breakages, loss of fit, instability or deterioration of an existing prosthesis.
When your patient cannot wait for your usual denture pathway.
If a patient requires new dentures within a timeframe that your practice or usual laboratory cannot accommodate, we may be able to provide an expedited treatment pathway.
Our clinical and laboratory setup has enabled us to accommodate cases requiring completely new dentures within approximately one week where a referring practice was unable to meet the patient's deadline.
All expedited treatment is subject to clinical suitability, appointment availability, complexity and laboratory capacity.
Examples of time-critical cases
Removable prosthetic laboratory support
Laboratory services are available to dental practices requiring denture work and removable prosthetic support.
Acrylic Dentures
Full and partial acrylic denture laboratory services.
Chrome Dentures
Chrome frameworks and chrome-based removable prosthetic work.
Additional Laboratory Work
Special trays, repairs, additions, denture stages and other removable prosthetic services.
For patients who cannot attend clinic
Where mobility, medical needs or other circumstances make conventional clinic attendance difficult, we can discuss whether a domiciliary denture pathway is appropriate.
Treatment can be coordinated with the patient's dentist, family, carers or healthcare provider where required.
Denture support for residential care patients
We welcome referrals and enquiries from dental professionals, care homes and healthcare teams requiring denture support for residents.
Each patient can be assessed individually to establish the most appropriate pathway before treatment is arranged.

If you have a complex case, a patient with a particularly tight deadline or are unsure whether a referral is suitable, please contact The Denture Shop before submitting the referral.
