Denture Repair

Denture Repairs

At The Denture Shop, we specialise in providing efficient and expert denture repair services. We understand the urgency of your needs, which is why we offer same-day services to minimise inconvenience to you.

To ensure prompt service, we strongly recommend scheduling an appointment in advance. You can easily book by calling our Horsham clinic at 01403 210616 or our Worthing clinic at
01903 501133.

Whilst we strive to repair dentures, we cannot guarantee every repair due to varying degrees of damage. If your dentures require replacement, rest assured that we can initiate the process promptly on the same day.

For any concerns or questions, please feel free to call either clinic, where our team is ready to assist you.

We advise against attempting DIY repairs using super glue or other adhesives. These can damage the acrylic material of your dentures, making repairs more challenging or even impossible. Furthermore, such adhesives can pose health risks and may result in additional charges for repair.

If you have inadvertently used glue on your dentures, please visit our clinic for a professional assessment and quote. We do not recommend using at-home denture repair kits, as these kits can make it a lot harder for us to repair your denture, if we can at all.

Common reasons for dentures breaking or needing repair

1. Wear and tear

Dentures can wear out over time from regular use, leading to cracks, chips, or worn spots.

To prevent this, you should handle your dentures with care. Avoid biting hard objects like ice or using harsh cleaning agents. Regularly check your dentures for signs of wear and have them professionally checked and maintained.

2. Accidents

Dropping or mishandling dentures can cause them to break.

Always handle dentures over a soft surface, like a folded towel or basin of water, to cushion any potential falls. When not in use, store your dentures in a denture case or container to prevent accidental damage.

3. Changes in jaw shape

Natural changes in your jawbone shape can make dentures fit poorly and require adjustments or repairs.

Ensure that you maintain regular dental check-ups to monitor your jawbone health. Follow professional advice for adjustments or replacements as needed to ensure proper fit.

4. Material breakdown

The materials in your dentures can deteriorate over time, especially if exposed to certain substances or environments.

Ensure to clean dentures daily using a soft brush and mild cleanser. Avoid soaking dentures in hot water or exposing them to abrasive substances.

5. Poor care

Not cleaning or caring for your dentures properly can lead to stains, damage, or problems that need fixing.

You should clean your dentures daily to remove food particles and prevent bacterial growth. Use a denture brush and non-abrasive cleaner recommended by your dentist. Rinse dentures after eating to remove any debris.

Nigel created a top denture for me that is as good as it gets. No glue or fixative needed as it stays in place perfectly on its own. And for the first time in ten years I can laugh and smile again. (My bottom jaw I had implants and a zirconia bridge at a London clinic and they couldn't make a proper fitting top denture)
