When will my denture be ready?
We aim to complete most straightforward repairs within around 3 hours. When you drop your denture off, our team will give you a collection time that fits around our booked appointments and repair workload that day.
The exact turnaround can vary depending on the complexity of the repair, the number of walk-ins, booked patient appointments and laboratory staffing.
If your denture is completed earlier than the collection time you've been given, we'll call or text you to let you know it's ready sooner.
What happens when you bring your denture in?
We assess the damage
We check the denture and broken pieces to determine whether it can be repaired using our standard in-house process.
We check the position
Where possible, the pieces are positioned together accurately before the repair is completed.
Your denture is repaired
The denture goes into our laboratory where the damaged area is professionally repaired and finished.
You collect the same day
We'll give you a collection time when you drop the denture off and contact you if it is ready earlier.
Many common denture problems can be repaired in-house.
Cracked or snapped dentures
Acrylic dentures that have fractured or cracked can often be professionally repaired.
Broken denture teeth
A damaged or detached denture tooth can often be replaced or reattached depending on the condition of the denture.
Broken acrylic
Broken flanges and other acrylic damage can often be rebuilt using our in-house laboratory process.
Why do dentures break?
Sometimes the cause is obvious. Other times, repeated breakage can be a sign that the denture itself is under stress or no longer fitting as well as it once did.
Accidental drops
Dentures can fracture when dropped onto hard floors, sinks or other solid surfaces.
Long-term wear
Acrylic and denture teeth are exposed to years of repeated loading and can weaken as the denture ages.
Changes in fit
Your mouth changes over time. A denture that no longer fits evenly can flex or rock during use and place additional stress on the acrylic.
Heavy bite forces
Strong or uneven biting forces can place repeated pressure on particular areas of a denture.
Thin or vulnerable areas
Some denture designs naturally contain thinner areas of acrylic which can become more susceptible to fracture over time.
Repeated previous repairs
A denture that has broken several times may be telling us that the underlying fit, function or condition needs reviewing.
Sometimes we need your mouth to tell us where the denture belongs.
For a repair to be accurate, we need to know exactly how the broken pieces should sit in relation to one another.
Repair impression
If the broken denture cannot be accurately positioned back together, we may need to take an impression of your mouth so the denture can be repaired in the correct position.
This may be necessary if the pieces no longer fit together, the denture has been superglued, or an at-home repair kit has been used.
The additional £60 only applies when an impression is required.
Please don't use superglue or an at-home repair kit.
Superglue and DIY denture repair products can prevent the broken pieces from fitting together accurately and make a professional repair more complicated.
A repair that may otherwise have been a straightforward £120 repair could require an impression, increasing the total to £180.
Keep every piece of the denture and bring them with you without attempting to glue them together.
What if we can't repair it in-house?
Some repairs require specialist laboratory work.
Our same-day guarantee applies to repairs that can be safely completed using our normal in-house repair methods.
If a chrome denture has broken, or the damage cannot be repaired appropriately using traditional in-house methods, we may need to send the denture to a specialist laboratory.
In these circumstances the repair will take longer than the standard same-day service. We'll explain this following assessment and advise you of the expected turnaround and any applicable costs before proceeding.

We also offer other denture services that can often be completed on the same day, but these require a pre-booked appointment.
Denture Relines
If your denture has become loose as your mouth has changed, a reline may improve the adaptation of the fitting surface without making an entirely new denture.
We will assess whether a reline is clinically appropriate before proceeding.

If a natural tooth has been lost and needs adding to an existing denture, this can often be completed on the same day where the existing denture is suitable.
The denture and mouth need to be assessed so the new tooth can be positioned correctly.

A denture can break because it has been dropped or damaged, but repeated fractures can sometimes indicate an underlying problem with the denture or its fit.

If the denture was functioning well before an accidental break, a straightforward professional repair may be enough to get you back to normal.

If your denture has fractured several times, feels loose, rocks during use or no longer fits as it once did, we may recommend assessing whether a reline or replacement would provide a better long-term solution.

Once your denture is repaired and suitable for digital storage, Scan & Store can provide additional peace of mind against future loss or irreparable damage.
Scan & Store — our denture “insurance”
We digitally scan your suitable existing denture and securely store its design on our system while you continue wearing it as normal.
If it is later lost or damaged beyond repair, the stored information can be used as the basis for a replacement where clinically appropriate.
Scan & Store is available for suitable full and partial acrylic dentures. Digital services are not available for chrome-based dentures.
